Why consider a wedding planner?
The idea of a wedding planner may seem a little over-the-top, or conjure up images of “Fraaank” in “The Father of the Bride”.

You may feel like it is an added expense (although in reality it may actually save you money), or that no-one but you could (or should) plan your dream day.

The truth is that planning a wedding can be stressful and time-consuming. A good wedding planner will help you handle all the detail – while giving you loads of advice and support along the way.

Planning:

  • Finding the perfect wedding venue – one which fits both your budget and brief
  • Suggesting tried and tested suppliers/vendors, incl. photographers, caterers, florists, cakes, hairstylists and more
  • Design and production of invitations and thank you cards (incl. electronic invitations)
  • Accompanying you to supplier meetings, or standing in for you when you cannot be there
  • Acting as your liaison with suppliers/vendors throughout the planning process – and on your big day
  • Negotiating prices and discounts wherever possible
  • Taking on all décor and flower arranging where required
  • Giving advice (based on years of experience) where needed, be it around traditions, etiquette, timing and more
  • Taking on all ordering, delivery and return of rentals, e.g. marquees, furniture, crockery, candelabras etc.
  • Designing and printing seating charts, table numbers, place cards etc.
  • Handling all transport and accommodation requirements for your out-of-town guests
  • Coordinating the wedding rehearsal and rehearsal dinner if necessary

On the day:

  • Receiving and coordinating all deliveries, overseeing set-up and décor, greeting all vendors on the day

  • Assistance with corsages, wedding bouquets and flower girl baskets
  • Keeping those unruly flower girls and ring bearers in line and ready for their walk down the aisle
  • Making sure the entire wedding party gets down the aisle gracefully and effortlessly
  • Making sure your gown and train are perfect for your glide down the aisle
  • Keeping kids occupied (and quiet) during the ceremony if need be
  • Working with the photographer to ensure that you get all the shots you need
  • Ensuring that all guests are happy throughout the ceremony and reception
  • Supporting the wedding party through all the speeches – ensuring things run smoothly and on time
  • Coordinating the DJ or band – ensuring that your first dance is special and memorable
  • Keeping a handle on the entire evening so that you can relax and enjoy
  • Distributing gratuities to your vendors at the end of the evening
  • Packing up at the end of the evening (disposable cameras, guest book, flowers and of course your gifts!)
  • Responsible for the break-down of the entire event – you just have to escape off to your first night together as husband and wife!
